Sol Ark & Fortress Power BESS

17kw solar + 37kw battery energy storage system utilizing 2 sol-ark 15kw inverters in parallel.

This was our most complex project to date. We are proud of the finished product.

Our client who is a custom home builder called us asking how we could make an industry leading battery product provide whole home battery backup, with a shared common battery bank, that could be charged by 6 different pv strings located on 2 different roof pitches, with a single user interface. Due to technical limitations, the industry leading battery product could not achieve the end result requested by the client. However, we were able to achieve our clients request using the pairing of Sol-Ark & Fortress Power products.

For those of you who can read electrical diagrams, you can find a photo of the 3 line in the image gallery. This custom new build in Boulder, Co has a 400A main service that feeds 2 separate 200A panels deep in the basement. We ended up re-routing the 4/0 wire feeding the 2 separate 200A panels into our Sol-Ark inverters. From the Sol-Ark inverters we routed the 4/0 cables out and into a 400A combiner panel where we were able to re-feed the 200A panels in the house. We made this switchover happen during normal business hours, while minimizing the inconvenience to other contractors on site.

The image of the 4,000 MΩ reading was performed on each conductor that we pulled from the roof to the basement. This test gives both us and our client peace of mind that no conductors were damaged during installation.

Looking for a different system than your cookie cutter microinverter design? Have a difficult project that demands attention to detail? That is our specialty.
